Graffiti Church
and Community Ministry
While it may be a strange name for
a church and community ministry, people all over the Lower
East Side of New Your know the name. Graffiti Church, located
a few blocks from one of the largest housing projects in
the nation, started out of a small graffiti-covered storefront
over 30 years ago as a reading program for children. Now,
Graffiti serves hundreds of at-risk children and youth, homeless
adults, and the urban poor every year through after-school
programs, feeding programs, clothing closets, and worship
services.
Opportunities for Service:
Prayer and financial
sponsorship for low-income individuals to attend summer camp,
winter retreat, and other events; adults to partner with
to enable the after-school programs and other mercy ministries
to continue; young adults (20-30) to raise their own financial
support to come and be a part of the internship program for
Urban Encounter for one year.

Crosspointe Baptist Church
We are a new church (five years old) located in Vancouver, Washington. Washington and Oregon are the two most un-churched states in the United States. Less than 10% of the people attend any kind of church and church growth experts project that only 2%-5% of the Pacific Northwest are Christians. CrossPointe is the result of a merger of two small churches who came together in 2002. The church averages about 200 in worship and is actually one of the largest Southern Baptist Churches in our association of 75 churches. CrossPointe is a purpose driven church. We are trying to be intentional in the areas of worship, evangelism, discipleship, fellowship, and ministry. The church moved into a new building on Easter and is having a grand opening service October 7, 2007 for the community. Please pray for our people to invite others, and for the community to be responsive to the invitations we will be sending out. CrossPointe also has a small Korean congregation (about 40) people and is looking at adding a Slavic church (about 150 people) to its Sunday schedule. Jim Fitzpatrick is the Pastor, Jana Lewis is the Ministry Associate (worship, children, office) and Matt Kauffman is the Student Ministry Pastor (youth).

Christian Vocational Ministries
CVM is a second-chance ministry for men designed to help those desiring to make a fresh start in life or young men simply wanting to learn a vocational trade in a thoroughly Christian environment.
The program run by Mr. John Innes consists of cabinet building instruction in a modern, well-equipped shop and general housing construction. In addition, personal and group Bible studies and counseling are implemented on a regular basis. Scripture memory also plays a major role in helping these men chart a new course in life.
The men at CVM learn to serve the Lord by making occasional trips to help churches with building projects. As Mr. Innes says, "We don't use people to get work done, we use work to get people done!" This ministry rejoices in a number of graduates from the one-year program who have moved on to become productive and successful.
Opportunities for Service:
Prayer and financial support, minister with our partners to support and
encourage them in training and guidance in godly working and living.
