Weekday
Preschool
About us at
Rocky Creek Weekday Preschool
Our goal is to provide a developmentally appropriate, Christian education experience
for preschool age children during the week. This program operates on the same
schedule as the Greenville County School System. Our hours are Monday through
Friday from 8:30am to 12:30pm.
We offer preschool classes for children ages two to four. Two, three and five
day classes are available. Our Moms Morning Out Program is available for children
ages six weeks up to two years old. Class sizes are kept small to encourage
peer relations and relationships between teacher and child.
In September of 2004, we added a K-5 program. This
class is taught by Joy Harvell, a certified teacher. Her husband
is the pastor of Northwood Baptist Church of Greer. We have 9 students
currently enrolled. The class hours will still remain 8:30am to 12:30pm.
We offer this as alternative to all day public kindergarten.
Curriculum
We use the A Beka curriculum distributed from Pensacola, Florida. A
Beka is dedicated to providing quality education from a Christian perspective.
The curriculum is structured, academically challenging and allows each
year to become a stepping stone for the next year. All of the activities
promote Christian character and values.
Chapel
Each week our students travel to our church chapel to hear an age appropriate
lesson taught by our Life Development Pastor, David Williams. David
takes time to share with these children the simple, basic concepts
of the love of Jesus Christ.
Music
Also, each week Mrs. Gwyn Shockley comes to teach music to our students.
Each class enjoys 20 minutes of fun, upbeat music about Jesus. They
sing, move, play instruments, clap their hands, act like trains or
whatever other fun things Ms. Gwyn has planned for the day.
Field Trips
We take several field trips each school year. Each trip is developed
around the season. The field trips are fun and informative.
Community Service
The weekday preschool program participates in several community service
projects throughout the year. During November, we will be collecting
cans for the Southside Crisis Center. In December, we will collect
items to help the less fortunate.
Special Programs
We have an annual Thanksgiving Dinner complete with “Pilgrims
and Indians.” The children also are a part of two special programs
during the school year. We will have a Christmas program in December,
and a Graduation Ceremony in May.
